The Slope House is a clean modern box that cantilevers over the side of a valley. The structure is a simple frame clad with various metal corrugated sheeting. The metal cladding could be replaced with numerous other materials. Services are located on the top, sides and underside of the box. The house illustrated includes a single garage as well as an external stair which offers access to the floor of the valley.
The functional linear layout of the house is very simple and efficient in its use of space.
Large openings including a fold down deck at the public end of the building contrast with small side openings and rooflights at the private end.
The house can be clustered in groups with each house set at a slightly different angle from its neighbour thus increasing privacy to occupants. The optional ‘bolt-on’ garage is located to the side of the house and a further ‘bolt-on’ stair to the opposite side of the house provides access down to the valley floor.
