The concept behind the Slinky is to create a house that can be easily reconfigured and extended in the future to meet the needs of its occupants. The house is made up of a series of pre-fabricated pods that can be repositioned, added to or removed as requirements dictate. For change to take place, it must be simple to enact.
Circulation is located on the same side of each of the pods, rationalising the layout of the floor plan. The frames which make up the walls, floor and roof of the pods are various thickness and located at various centres. The varying gaps between the frame are infilled with solid and transparent panels.
The house is supported on metal legs on small concrete pads. It treads lightly on the ground and could be easily relocated on a series of flat bed trucks.
