Curve

Curve

The floor plan is made up of a series of linear forms juxtaposed with soft organic curved forms.

The house is approached from the east. Here, a parking court and garaging is provided. The entrance hall leads up to the first floor living area. Three bedroom wings radiate from the main living areas creating sheltered and private external courtyards. The rear door of the house opens onto a paddock.

The building is cut into the ground to provide privacy between its occupants and their neighbours and to reduce the impact of the building on its surroundings. The house is flat roofed. It is single storey to the rear (north side) and two storey at the front (south side). The house cascades down to the lawned and paved garden. South and west facing amenity terraces are provided for all rooms. The garden and swimming pool are located at the lowest level.

The elevational treatment is simple and elegant. The palette of materials is limited to painted render, horizontal timber cladding and glass. Timber infill panels and moveable screens at the large window areas provide privacy when required.
